The lupine have begun to appear on Deer Isle in all of their purple glory. This beautiful flower is celebrated annually in June at the Lupine Festival on Deer Isle, which is filled with activities honoring this wildflower. Lupine can be found from Maine to Florida, and as far west as Minnesota. Fields of purple, lavender, pink and white blossoms can be found throughout Down East Maine from late May to approximately the second or third week in June, blanketing our landscape. They are the subject of many photographs and make a great backdrop to family photos. Painters flock to our area to capture the rolling hills of color. When you stay at Pilgrim's Inn for the festival, from June 15-17, 2012 and participate in the activities, you'll receive 10% off of your room rate! Lupine Festival Brochure.
